Darren began his journey in sign making as a high school apprentice at The Wood Shop, learning the craft directly from Bruce. After careers in engineering and military service, he and Amanda returned to Boyne City to raise their family and continue the work that first inspired him. Today, they lead a talented, passionate team - including long-time artisans who have been part of the shop for decades.

Now owned by Darren and Amanda Looze, Stonefly Signs honors Bruce’s legacy while introducing a fresh identity that reflects the natural beauty of Northern Michigan. The name “Stonefly” is inspired by the clean waters of the Boyne River, symbolizing our commitment to quality, longevity, and local character.
